[ H O P E ]
A word often used flippantly. Sometimes even seen as futile. I think we’ve all seen or experienced having it and feeling the lack of it. But I remember the day hope became more than a word. It became personal. He became personal. It was the first time hope had a name and His name is Jesus. In the middle of grief and despair after ascribing hope to others who didn’t possess what I thought they had, I met Jesus. I’d met Him before and walked with Him, but this place was different. I met Hope while carrying anger and deep sadness after we lost Zadok. It’s a story I’ve told plenty and continue to live. He changed me. And in his absence, I met Hope. He joined me. And we’ve walked together ever since. Hope is no badge of honor, friends, but it is a relationship built on trust. Hope walked me into 2020, through 2020, and out of 2020. Hope walked me into 2021. Hope holds and is the reason for my love for the imperfect needs to get her act together Church. Heck! Jesus is never without love and hope for MY imperfect, needs-to-get-her-act-together self when I’ve questioned the purpose of my existence. See, Hope who is Jesus, is not situational, though situations certainly challenge perspective and muddy the waters, but we can confidently ascribe Hope to the only One who is unchanged by the shifting of culture, the storms, the devastation, and all that seems to be in disarray. Jesus—Hope—can remain our solid ground. He is my hope and my only One.

“And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!” Romans 5:5 TPT
.
“We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold, and where Jesus, our forerunner, has gone in before us. He is now and forever our royal Priest like Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:19-20 TPT
