[ Q U I E T ]

What if we could hear the wings of a butterfly

Or the chatter of the bees

What if pollinators whistle while they work

What if we could hear the giggle of a thousand salmon journeying against the current

What if we could hear the sound of roots growing deep

Or the song of falling leaves

What if a new bloom or sprout sounds like a newborns entrance to the earth

What if we could hear creation’s symphony

Their song of worship to the Lamb

What if wonder drew us into silence

And awe drew us into stillness

What if every droplet recited a proverb with every plummet to the ground

What if each snowflake isn’t just unique in appearance

But each one sings a different harmony of the same hymn

What if the sound of light is the highest pitch

What if we’ve been asking the wrong question all along:

Does a tree that falls in the forest make a sound if no one is there to hear it?

What if the real question is if the onlooking trees sang a dirge or rejoiced in a new opportunity to be used

What if there’s a deeper song

A greater sound

That we’re missing

In the daily clamor of life

We all have a voice and a sound

But in that we are not alone

What if all creation from the galaxies to the deepest roots of plants growing on the ocean floor is singing this cantillation to the King of the universe

What if we’re all invited to listen to the orchestra of a language we do not speak

What if we slowed down

What if we could hear

What if we were still

What if we were

Quiet
